A brief history

1990 - 1991: VIDOTOUR was one of the first private Vietnamese companies to offer inbound tour services in Vietnam. In 1990, the company opened small representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

1992 - 1993: By the end of 1993 VIDOTOUR had grown with 25 staff members and had moved into new offices. 1993 also saw the opening of VIDOTOUR Hue office, with a staff of two.

1994 - 1996: In 1995, VIDOTOUR created its travel insurance division, which provided the country's best medical evacuation and emergency services. In 1996 VIDOTOUR acquired Samifana Indochina, a highly respected destination management company covering Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. VIDOTOUR became VIDOTOUR Indochina Travel, expanding its services to Laos and Cambodia.

1997 - 1999: VIDOTOUR continued to grow at a remarkable rate, with staff added at offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hue and Da Nang. During this time, VIDOTOUR recruited specialists capable of working with Italian, German, French and Scandinavian clients.

2000 - 2001: VIDOTOUR opened two new offices in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, raising the total number of staff members to over 100 full-time employees.

2001 - 2003: VIDOTOUR obtained its International Travel License. Key members of VIDOTOUR’s management team graduated in International Executive Development Programmes in the U.S.A. at the University of California Riverside and the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.

2003 - 2004: The representative office in Phan Thiet was opened in June 2004, enabling the company to further expand its presence at all the main gateways and destinations in Indochina. At the same time, VIDOTOUR's ranks continued to grow to nearly 150 full-time staff members.

2004 - 2005: From May 18th – 22nd 2005, VIDOTOUR celebrated its 15th Anniversary. The entire staff and management team gathered in the ancient town of Hoi An to participate in games, festivities, activities and competitions. Founded by just two people, VIDOTOUR now had more than 160 staff members throughout Vietnam and Cambodia.

2005 - 2006: VIDOTOUR continues to create new and innovative itineraries to match the needs and aspirations of clients. In 2006 we introduced a wide range of Cambodian programs to reflect the growing interest in this destination as well as increasing our profile in the MICE and incentive market.

2006 - 2007: VIDOTOUR management and staff strive to search for unique and interesting itineraries in Indochina to provide our partners with more alternatives that suit the ever-increasing demand. Our MICE and incentive market share has continued to broaden thanks to our efforts to develop exclusive programs and to attend to every detail. More importantly, our communications with our friends and partners have been fostered better than ever which has resulted in more efficiency.

2007 – 2008: The Company celebrated its 18th anniversary and for the second consecutive year VIDOTOUR was honoured as Vietnam Top Ten Tour Operator by the Vietnam Tourism Association.  Additionally, also for the second consecutive year, it became the first Vietnamese incoming agency to fulfill the criteria for the TINTKO Independent Tour Guide Quality Seal.

2008 – 2009: For the third consecutive year, 2008 saw VIDOTOUR honoured as one of Vietnam’s Top Ten Tour Operators by the Vietnam Tourism Association. The total number of employees increased to 246.

2009 - 2010: A difficult year for the travel industry worldwide. However, VIDOTOUR emerged unscathed and continued to develop and add products to meet the need of discerning travelers.

2010 - 2012: VIDOTOUR opened a new office in Vientiane, Laos, raising the total number of employees to 263. VIDOTOUR was honoured to be recognized as one of the Top Ten Tour Operators 2011 in Ho Chi Minh City.
