VC13 Koh Ker & Beng Mealea Temples (FD)

Siem Reap - Koh Ker - Beng Mealea - Siem Reap

Take a morning drive 120km northeast of Angkor to discover Koh Ker Temple, a relic of the capital of King Jayavarman IV. The complex is impressive in scale and conveys a sense of power and grandeur usually not associated with Khmer art. A picnic lunch will be arranged on site. On the return trip to Siem Reap, you will visit Beng Mealea, a unique 11th century temple which almost rivals Angkor Wat in terms of size. The main temple sits on an area of 108 hectares and is surrounded by a 45 metre-wide moat. Although it dates from the same period as Angkor Temples, the artwork and friezes are different in style. Much of the temple is enveloped by the jungle, thus adding to the sense of mystic discovery.
