The Journey of Vidotour
A Legacy of Pride, Passion, Dedication, and Leadership
The story of Vidotour began in 1990 with the vision and unwavering commitment of Ms. Nguyen Tuyet Mai, a pioneer in Vietnam’s high-quality hospitality industry. At a time when Vietnam was opening its doors to the world, she saw an opportunity to showcase the soul of the country — its unique blend of rich history, dynamic culture, warm hospitality, scenic beauty, and vibrant culinary tradition. With this mission at heart, she founded Vidotour, one of the first private companies in Vietnam to offer inbound travel services. Her leadership has been the cornerstone of the company’s enduring success.
By 1993, Vidotour had proliferated, establishing offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hue. With a reputation for excellence already taking root, the company ventured into the culinary arts, opening Le Tonkin in Hanoi in 1994. The restaurant quickly gained recognition for its elegant presentation of traditional Vietnamese cuisine, setting a standard for fine dining. Soon after, Indochine Restaurant Saigon was launched, becoming one of the most highly acclaimed dining establishments in Vietnam, a true reflection of Vidotour’s commitment to excellence.
1996 marked a pivotal moment for Vidotour when it acquired Samifana Indochina, a respected destination management company. This move expanded Vidotour’s reach into Laos and Cambodia, transforming the company into Vidotour Indochina Travel and cementing its role as a leader in Southeast Asian tourism.
Under the talented leadership of Ms. Mai and her talented team, Vidotour continued to grow, opening offices in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Phan Thiet, and Da Nang. In parallel, Vidotour’s expansion into hospitality was embodied by the opening of Ly Club Hanoi, a fine dining restaurant inspired by the refined elegance of Vietnam’s Ly Dynasty. It soon earned a reputation as one of the country’s best dining experiences, bringing another layer of prestige to the Vidotour name.
Vidogroup’s growth didn’t stop there. The company expanded into domestic and outbound travel with the creation of Viantravel, while Viet An Ticketing was launched to provide comprehensive travel services. Recognising the unique needs of the French market, Vidogroup introduced Asia Vietnam, reinforcing its ability to serve a diverse international clientele.
Vidotour’s venture into the culinary world continued to thrive, with CoCo Restaurant receiving a prestigious Michelin recommendation, further establishing Vidotour’s reputation not only as a travel leader but also as a champion of Vietnam’s culinary arts.
Even during the darkest days of the coronavirus pandemic, Vidotour stood firm. With immense pride in its people and a profound sense of responsibility, Vidotour retained its key personnel and maintained operations, showcasing the strength and resilience that had been cultivated over decades. This unwavering dedication is a testament to the leadership and the talented team that form the heart of Vidotour.
Today, Vidotour is proudly recognised as the leading full-service Destination Management Company in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand.
