From the timeless charm of Luang Prabang to the scenic landscapes of Vang Vieng and the relaxed pace of Vientiane, each destination invites meaningful moments together. With flexible activities and a welcoming atmosphere, Laos is perfect for families seeking both discovery and connection.

Day 1 - Luang Prabang Arrival – Kuang Si Waterfalls

Meet and greet on arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, followed by a transfer into the city. In the afternoon, take an excursion to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfalls, where turquoise pools flow through the forest. Visit the nearby Bear Rescue Centre, and if time allows, stop at Ock Pop Tok to learn about traditional Lao weaving.

Day 2 - Luang Prabang City Tour & Pak Ou Caves

Morning, explore the charm of Luang Prabang by tuk-tuk, including:

  • Royal Palace Museum – Former residence of the Lao royal family, showcasing regalia, religious artefacts and historic gifts.
  • Heuan Chan Heritage House – A beautifully restored traditional home offering insight into Lao architecture and daily life.
  • Wat Xiengthong – The city’s most iconic temple, renowned for its sweeping roofs, intricate carvings and glass mosaics.
  • Visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (closed Mondays, March–October) to discover Laos’ diverse ethnic cultures.

In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Mekong River to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues, before returning to the city at sunset.

Day 3 - Luang Prabang - Mandalao Elephant Conservation

Drive to Mandalao Elephant Conservation, located around 30 minutes from Luang Prabang. This ethical sanctuary offers non-riding, immersive experiences focused on education, conservation and the protection of rescued elephants.

Join a half-day programme, including a 2.5 km (approx. 1.5-hour) walk through the jungle alongside elephants, with opportunities to feed and interact with them in their natural environment. The experience often includes a traditional Lao lunch and a longtail boat ride.

In the afternoon, return to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 4 - Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng by train

Enjoy your final moments in Luang Prabang before heading to the dramatic landscapes of Vang Vieng.

Transfer to the railway station for the 13:45 high-speed train, arriving around one hour later. After check-in, take a traditional boat cruise along the Nam Song River, passing striking limestone karsts.

Vang Vieng is renowned for its spectacular scenery of rugged peaks, cliffs and rice paddies, with an intricate network of caves shaped by its karst landscape.

Day 5 - Vang Vieng - Vientiane by train

Morning at leisure to enjoy optional activities, such as a kayaking experience on the scenic Nam Song River, surrounded by limestone mountains. The final stretch is a gentle paddle back to Vang Vieng, arriving in time for sunset.

In the evening, take the train at 19:10 to Vientiane (arrival 20:10). Transfer to your hotel, then enjoy free time to discover the capital by night, from riverside strolls along the Mekong to local night markets and restaurants.

Day 6 - Vientiane City tour

Begin your exploration of the tranquil capital, Vientiane.

  • Visit Wat Sisaket and Wat Prakeo, two of the city’s most revered temples.

  • Continue to That Luang, the nation’s sacred golden stupa.

  • Stop at the Patuxai Monument for panoramic views over the city.

  • Conclude at the COPE Centre to gain insight into Laos’ modern history and humanitarian efforts.

After breakfast, enjoy free time until transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
